D.O.G. (Depend On God) Club:
Social/Service Club for 4th-6th Graders

D.O.G. Club provides both social and service opportunities for children in grades 4th-6th. This club meets approximately every 4-6 weeks, typically on Monday evenings, from 6:30-8 pm in Fellowship Hall. We share our faith, serve others, and both pray and play together! A typical gathering time consists of activities centered around faith formation, service opportunities and social activities. Last year we had one off-site “just-for-fun” field trip and a summer overnight lock-in to celebrate our year of accomplishments.

Mark 12:31, Jesus says that the second greatest commandment is to “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Matthew 5:16, “…let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

What are some benefits for children in serving others?

  • A sense of responsibility and that one person can make a difference…that they can have an impact on someone or something else.
  • A closer connection with their faith community.
  • Satisfaction and pride that comes from helping others.
  • Benefit of sacrifice…of putting someone else’s needs ahead of their own.
  • Learning new skills, discovering more about themselves and their God-given talents.
